PEDAL POWER!

Heyyyyy! Welcome back people! I love cycling because it brings back a lot of memories from when I used to live in Amsterdam!  Before the lockdown, i used to cycle to school, tuition, shops and my friends house.. But now I can't do that, but I do cycle to my grandparent's house very often. The problem with cycling in India, is that the roads are unpaved and there is too much pollution. Delhi is the most polluted city in India. The main cause of pollution are vehicles. tbh even when we go on long car rides, I can't put the window down because there is so much pollution, my mom and I find it hard to breathe! Which is horrible because we love the sticking our heads out, because of the gush of wind, at least we used to love it. In fact when my mom was a child, she used to cycle 7 km to her school every single day! It seems hard to believe that  so much has changes since my parents were kids. It is really ironic, because people use cars to avoid being exposed to polluted air, but

What Part of My Life do i miss, from before the lockdown?

Heyyy welcome back! Hope all of you are doing well! so, in today's post I’m going tell all of you the part of my life that I miss, from before the lockdown. Many people ask me this question and I say " many things, I miss many things", but I’ll be mentioning only a couple of things today. So one of the things I really miss is school (the fun part. lol, of course and the part where we get into trouble and the teachers scold us...!) The thing about online school and normal school is that the atmosphere is  DIFFERENT!  In regular school the teachers and students are able to interact properly but in online school that isn't always possible. Although in online school I have been doing better in my academics, and in my exams which I am happy about! I think I’m doing better because, I am a lot more focused than at school. The other thing I miss is going out, and not just going out.. going out without masks Ever since the lockdown begun, masks were a must while

Corona Virus has its Merits too!

Yes, I know that Covid-19 has changed our lives a lot, however some of the changes are for the better.  Ever since the world has been on lockdown, I'm not sure if many of you have noticed that the air is cleaner and less polluted. In fact my mom and I have been going to the terrace everyday to get some exercise and, after sunset we are able to see more stars then usual because the air is cleaner! Why is the air cleaner? Easy! It's because there aren't so many vehicles on the road, so less fuel being used and lesser pollution. Actually my mom is asthmatic, (this is a condition where she can't breathe properly without the use of an inhaler). She hasn't used her inhaler for the past week, she says that she can breathe better than usual. Normally she would need to use her inhaler at least once a day. But now she doesn't have to and that is a good sign. How can we make sure that after the lockdown, we don't go back to our old polluting ways? Instead o

I'm back!!  Did you know that you can wash your hands WITHOUT wasting water? Here's how - Fill half a mug of water, wet your hands, once you lather and wash well, use the water in the mug to rinse your hands. Today I made Dal and a vegetable side dish. I had to first set the pressure cooker. if you layer your pressure cooker with vessels instead of putting stuff in it directly, you can cook more things at the same time. This saves time and energy (cooking gas). I kept rice, moong dal and potatoes. W hile the cooker is getting done, 1) cut ,tomatoes, chilies  and make a ginger-garlic paste for the Dal. 2)For the Sabzi cut carrots, green bell pepper. 3 ) Keep your tempering ingredients ready- I used cumin and asafetida for both. 4 )By now the pressure cooker would be done, take out the dal and peel and chop the potatoes. 5 ) Heat up a little oil, add the tempering ingredients. Cook the tomatoes and green chilies. Then add the Dal. Add salt and turmeric powder

I know that all of you are stuck at home because of  Corona Virus\COVID19... I hope all of u stay safe at home and not be in direct contact with anyone, don't leave the house. I've been so bored that I asked my mom if she could teach me how to cook, she said ok…very happily!  So for the past 3 days I been cooking lunch all by myself and feeding my hungry parents… here's the recipe for  Quinoa Pulao and Raita. 1)Cut vegetables of your choice.  I used Carrots, Bell Peppers of all 3  colours, Beans,Tomatoes and Onions, Chillis 2) Then I soaked Quinoa in some  water. 3) I collected my Tempering ingredients - Bay leaf , Green  cardamom, cloves, cumin, anise and cinnamon. 4) I made a ginger-garlic paste in the mortar pestle. 5) I put oil in a non-stick pan and then added the tempering ingredients. 6) Once it started crackling  I added the onion and green chilies. 7) After the onions get transparent add the ginger-garlic paste and chilies, and th

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and my mom showed me her texts and guess what... it was from my mom's good friend Mini Aunty. The text was that her daughter and my friend, Ananya had read my previous post ( A Pen's Life) and had bought ink pens  and when I saw that I felt very happy that people are actually reading my blog and putting my requests in action. Yayyy kids are gonna change the world.... for the better. Here's a pic of Ananya and Mini aunty with their pens.. Another thing that I would like to share - My mom's student had made a coconut scrub meant for dishes. It is made of coconut fibres It is much better than Scotch Brite and also more environmentally friendly :) This kid is only 14 and kids can save the world Don't worry grown-ups the world is in good hands! Song reccos- Beatles- I get a little help from my friends Micheal Jackson- Heal the World Thank you!!!!

A PEN'S LIFE

Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope you all have a great year ahead :) As a  student in India we write a lot, and hardly use gadgets in school. This means we use a lot of stationery, especially pens like gel pens, ball point pens. Basically pens that can't be reused. I myself use ball point pens.. I am slowly trying to use ink/fountain pens. My mom has used  a Lamy fountain  pen for the last 15 years and even before that she has always used an ink pen cause she says it makes her handwriting better. My dad also uses one too. As you  can see in the pictures, my mom's pen isn't sustainable. She needs to use plastic cartridges every time the ink runs out.  But here's another pen bought by my parents for me on my birthday. This IS a sustainable pen. Whenever the ink runs out I  refill it straight from the ink bottle. Yes, it's a bit inconvenient because it leaks if you don't clean it properly. I  hope that this will motivate all of my
